Pockets on Dresses

One of my favorite things is pockets on dresses.  I have several and love them!  It almost makes the dress feel a little more casual and comfy when added.  This morning my 3 year old daughter insisted that I wear a dress because she was :)  I love that she insist we match the type of clothing that we are wearing - she doesn't do it all the time so when she does it makes my heart happy.

Since this dress is sleeveless and I'm in the office I added a black blazer and black pumps to complete the look.  I've had this dress in rotation since before I had children and it has always been a favorite.  I love the neutral colors with the pop of bright pink.

Dress: Old    Blazer: Old (Similar)  Shoes

Other Options:

I realize that all of the above dress are from JCPenney but that is where I got my dress and they have a great collection of dress for any and all occasions.

The blazer is a great option for those more relaxed days.  It has the lines and features of a traditional blazer but is a little more laid back and less structured than a traditional blazer.  I have a traditional blazer in my wardrobe but tend to save it for more high function events and wear the cotton version for day to day activities in the office.

The shoes again are from Target!  I needed a quick fix before starting the new position this summer since I had been working from home and these have carried me through wonderfully.  They are comfortable yet look the part for the office for a fraction of the price of others.

I picked up a great new shade from Essie this week: Mint Candy Apple.  It is a gorgeous color that is more blue than mint but is still beautiful for those of us dreaming of spring and summer.  Here in Texas, the last few days have been feeling much more like early summer and have left me crazing brights and pastels.  And what better way is there to have a little summer than with a new nail polish?!

Indoor Tri

So as of yesterday, I am signed up to complete an Ironman Indoor Triathlon!  I have no doubt that it is easier to complete an indoor triathlon but I'm sure it will still be challenging. So here's the low down - I will swim laps for 10 minutes, bike for 30 minutes and run for 20 minutes.  All seems easy right?  Yea, that's what I thought as well until I got in the pool to swim laps yesterday with the Mr.  Swimming has become much harder the older I have gotten!  I remember swimming the day away as a kid and never being tired or ready for a nap as soon as I crawled out of the pool, lol.  I attempted to swim the majority of the 10 minutes with a regular stroke - a breast stroke I believe it what it is called.  Again, so hard!  I had to keep changing the way I was swimming, so I would flip over and swim/float on my back and then I would swim underwater for a while and then again, swim over.... Needless to say, I will need to practice on the swimmi...

Summer Time Old Navy Favorites

Although it should be warm, humid and sunny in south Texas we are currently being drenched in rain for the millionth time.  The last few weeks have been full of rain showers and thunder storms.  Every once in a while the rain will disappear for the afternoon leaving a very muggy and humid afternoon behind.  Other days, the rain makes a lovely afternoon appearance and gets heavier into the evening. With that said, it is mid-May and summer is top of mind when I'm not dreaming of being home cuddled up on the couch with a cup of coffee (read....Starbucks mocha!) :) Here are a few items that I cannot wait to add to my rotation from Old Navy. 1. Hat 2. Sleeveless tank 3. Chiffon Tank 4. Cami Fit & Flare 5. Heeled Sandals

Valentine's Surprise

So now that the laundry room shelf is done and I pleasantly surprised myself with how well it turned out I have decided that there is no reason that I cannot make the kids a giant chalkboard for the playroom! They kids know that they are getting a surprise for Valentine's Day and that it is something that I am making, but they have not figured it out yet.  One of the main reasons that I decided to do this is because they need another creative outlet.  I don't let them color with crayons or markers all of the time because they have colored on the walls, the floors, and each other....  Secondly, we don't have enough wall space to keep every single thing they create. The girls are very creative and really like to color together.  James like to color and draw as well when he is not playing Minecraft or creating elaborate train tracks that no one is allowed to help with... So, I have painted two coats of the chalk board paint on my sanded down plywood.  The san...
