Packing List

So, I am leaving for my business trip/mini vacation to Berlin in less than one month!!  The next few weeks are going to fly by and I still have so much to do.  Not only do I need to finalize what I am going to pack and wear for each day but I also need to plan and send out invitations for our middle daughter's 5th birthday party!  When did she get so big?! Anyway....one thing at a time.  I have booked my husband's plane ticket and the extra days at the hotel, we are considering it our belated anniversary/his early birthday present :)  We celebrated 10 years of marriage in January and I knew the business trip was coming up so we are celebrating late and early! So, here are a few of the items that I am planning on taking for the mini vacation part of the trip. Obviously, if I get the shoes below, the colors of the outfits will need to shift a little for a more uniformed, mix and match look. 1. I 'Heart' Ronson    2. Liz Claiborne   3. Liz Cl...

Favorite Combo's

I have a couple of color combinations that I love together and was recently reminded of one that I don't wear all that often - beige, black, dark pink/fuchsia and blue/teal for an extra pop of color. I was a little lost on what I was going to wear to work the other day because nothing seemed appealing that was clean.  I had to literally force myself to just throw something on and when I did, I was in love!  And I love when that happens on those terrible mornings. Cardigan , Button-Up , Shoes , Skirt Here is an example of a similar outfit that I wore this week with the colors that I mentioned.  All items are similar to the brand and price point that I was at for all items purchased.  In addition to making a great outfit when put together, they also are wardrobe staples that can help you create many, many outfits with items already in your closet. I hope that y'all have a great weekend!

Warm Bottoms

So it has started to get chilly here in Texas.  The mornings are a little cold at 60 degrees - not bad unless you are used to 90 degree days for most of the time. So here a couple of bottoms that are work appropriate yet cute and warm!  You can easily pair these with a cute top for the office and add a light sweater or blazer to complete the look. Cute Pixie Chino's from Old Navy that work great with short or tall boots and fabulous socks Great Skinny Twill Cord Pants from JCP that work with heels or boots to keep you warm and looking great How is the weather where you live?  Has it started to get cold yet?  Still nice and summer like or are you drenched in rain and praying for sunshine?

Shades of Grey

So I started some fall shopping this last week and into the weekend.  A couple of items that I picked up were grey....I love grey.  It's a nice alternative and great addition to either black or brown. The first item I picked up was a multi colored plaid scarf - main colors = grey, and black with some yellow and green/teal. The second item I picked up in grey were some fabulous booties!  I have been searching for years for the perfect grey booties and I believe that these are absolutely perfect! I have already been thinking about all of the combinations that I can and will wear this items together and cannot wait to get started :) Black dress  | Black shirt  | Jeans  | Yellow Top  | Teal Top  | Pencil Skirt  | Scarf  | Booties   Are there any colors that you just cannot get enough of for fall?  Obviously, I have grey, yellow and teal (nice blue/green combo) but I think I may also be falling for plum...again! ...

Stripes for Today, Tomorrow, Always

I love a good striped shirt - be it a classic like black & white or a fun combo like navy & coral.  You can wear a light weight stripped shirt with jeans, shorts and everything in between.  Below are a few of my favorites that just might make their way into my closet! Great black & white hoodie A great work option! Olive Stripes             Beautiful mint and white I have this in my wardrobe and love it with cut off shorts!

Winter is back....

After a nice break from the cooler weather, it appears that winter temps are back for a bit.  As mentioned before, I am not a fan of the cold weather at all so I'm waiting very impatiently for summer temps to back a comeback. With our move happening this weekend I have already started packing clothes and shoes away.  The problem - when I started packing last week it felt like summer outside so all the winter/fall clothes were boxed up first. Now I am desperately trying to find sweaters or long sleeves that escaped the packing boxes because they were in the laundry.  I have spotted a few items online that I would love to have in my wardrobe right now and am very tempted to pick up so the remainder of the week.  Crazy sounding I know, but I am feeling desperate to stay warm right now. I'm currently loving this vest from a local boutique in Kingwood. Although this outfit isn't nearly as warm looking I can't get over the fur vest . And even though t...

Skirts

I love a long-ish flowy skirt.  I love tulle skirts.  But I find that a tulle skirt is not great for random, every day office wear.  It's for pictures, and special occasions.  So, I have come to embrace the pleated skirt with shimmer! A couple of really cute options from Old Navy : Cute for spring & summer Old: Similar above Over the Thanksgiving break while visiting family I picked up this great pleated skirt.  Of course it is from JCPenney .  The brand is mng by Mango.  It has become a brand that I really love and look forward to seeing their new pieces every season.

Cooler Temps

As much as I love summer and the warmer temps - the warmer the better - I am hoping it all holds off for a bit longer here in Texas.  The reason?  I don't want to put away my long and cozy cardigans/sweaters and capes!! I picked up a great one this summer while it was marked down from JCPenney - of course! Here are two great options that are very similar and the same brand. Pattern Flyaway Open-Front Aztec Print Since living in Kingwood, TX my oldest daughter (who is 3) and I have discovered this great boutique called Pretty Little Things.   We are both obsessed with this boutique and all of the great items that they have.  The girls are always fantastic even when I come in with all three kids alone - crazy I know!  I picked up a great cardi sweater from them for about $40 that is beige and coral - its beautiful and some how I have no pictures of myself wearing it....

Simple Black Dress

As opposed to the little black dress the simple black dress for me is a bit more casual and can be worn a multitude of different ways. Yesterday for instance I paired my simple black dress with tall brown boots, a floral scarf and a little beige sweater/cardigan.  It look instantly pulled together, comfy, yet office appropriate for a Monday with no meetings in sight. The dress pictured and linked is very similar to the one I wore from Old Navy that I picked up a couple of summers back for $10!!  The scarf is identical and I love it!   I wear it with a lot of items in my closet.  The sweater/cardi is similar in color and I love how comfy yet pulled together it is.  The boots are similar as well in color and style. Office Comforts

Thursday's in the office call for slightly more laid back looks and some comfort items.  Things are starting to get even more busy than normal due to our annual conference coming up - Hello Panama (the country) - along with the normal every day duties. So today's look consisted of:       My blazer is similar to the one pictured above and is also from Banana Republic Outlet, unfortunately it cannot be purchased anymore.  As I said, my items have been in my closet for a while and I find new ways to style and love them again.  Here is a similar shaped blazer from Old Navy. The chambray shirt is great for layering with a variety of shirts, pants, scarves, shoes, etc.  The chambray shirt above is from Old Navy .  A similar top but super cute with polka dots & here is a lighter colored version . The black pants are from Old Navy as well and are super comfortable.  I wear them to work with heels pretty often and have even worn the...

Pockets on Dresses

One of my favorite things is pockets on dresses.  I have several and love them!  It almost makes the dress feel a little more casual and comfy when added.  This morning my 3 year old daughter insisted that I wear a dress because she was :)  I love that she insist we match the type of clothing that we are wearing - she doesn't do it all the time so when she does it makes my heart happy. Since this dress is sleeveless and I'm in the office I added a black blazer and black pumps to complete the look.  I've had this dress in rotation since before I had children and it has always been a favorite.  I love the neutral colors with the pop of bright pink. Dress: Old    Blazer: Old ( Similar )   Shoes Other Options:   Pockets and Sleeves Beautiful Fit & Flare Sleeveless & Textured Sleeves Less With Exposed Zipper I realize that all of the above dress are from JCPenney but that is where I got my dress and they have a ...

Casual Friday

Oh how I love casual Fridays at work.  Wearing jeans and being able to feel a little more comfortable than in my normal work attire - although that is changing :)                 Target: Scarf ( Similar ), Tommy Hilfiger Outlet: Sweater - Old ( Similar ), JCPenney: Jeans , Shoes - Old ( Similar )   One of my favorite stores to shop at is JCPenney.  You will see entire outfits - top to bottom - and everything is from JCPenney.  I grew up shopping there and am always surprised by the items that I can find at great price points.   With that said, I also shop at other store but being a mother of 3 young children, I am very careful about how much I spend and how often I spend it. The jeans I am wearing in the picture are going on two years old but still look, feel and fit great!   And you can see that they didn't cost me an arm and a leg. The navy sweater is from the Tommy Hilfiger Outlet store in B...
