Skirts

I love a long-ish flowy skirt.  I love tulle skirts.  But I find that a tulle skirt is not great for random, every day office wear.  It's for pictures, and special occasions.  So, I have come to embrace the pleated skirt with shimmer!

Over the Thanksgiving break while visiting family I picked up this great pleated skirt.  Of course it is from JCPenney.  The brand is mng by Mango.  It has become a brand that I really love and look forward to seeing their new pieces every season.

Summer Time Old Navy Favorites

Although it should be warm, humid and sunny in south Texas we are currently being drenched in rain for the millionth time.  The last few weeks have been full of rain showers and thunder storms.  Every once in a while the rain will disappear for the afternoon leaving a very muggy and humid afternoon behind.  Other days, the rain makes a lovely afternoon appearance and gets heavier into the evening. Finished Chalkboard

So I am delayed in getting this posted but the chalkboard was a huge success and the kids were thrilled!  They have played on it a lot and have even invited their friends over to color on the chalkboard with them. So after I applied the layers of chalkboard paint and let them dry, I took a piece of chalk and laid it on its side and "colored" the chalkboard with it.  You are doing this according to the directions to help prime the surface for use. After you color it and let it chill, you then take a damp rag and wipe it off.  Sounds easy enough, right?  Well, it is!  I was nervous about  it not working because I may have some how missed a step along the way...I even googled the directions just in case!! I also added a really cute and perfectly, imperfect burlap boarder to the chalkboard.  I had initially planned out creating a wood boarder for it and painting it to match the colors from the playroom pillows but ultimately decided against it...

Casual Friday

Oh how I love casual Fridays at work.  Wearing jeans and being able to feel a little more comfortable than in my normal work attire - although that is changing :)                 Target: Scarf ( Similar ), Tommy Hilfiger Outlet: Sweater - Old ( Similar ), JCPenney: Jeans , Shoes - Old ( Similar )   One of my favorite stores to shop at is JCPenney.  You will see entire outfits - top to bottom - and everything is from JCPenney.  I grew up shopping there and am always surprised by the items that I can find at great price points.   With that said, I also shop at other store but being a mother of 3 young children, I am very careful about how much I spend and how often I spend it. The jeans I am wearing in the picture are going on two years old but still look, feel and fit great!   And you can see that they didn't cost me an arm and a leg.
