Shades of Grey

So I started some fall shopping this last week and into the weekend.  A couple of items that I picked up were grey....I love grey.  It's a nice alternative and great addition to either black or brown.

The first item I picked up was a multi colored plaid scarf - main colors = grey, and black with some yellow and green/teal.

The second item I picked up in grey were some fabulous booties!  I have been searching for years for the perfect grey booties and I believe that these are absolutely perfect!

I have already been thinking about all of the combinations that I can and will wear this items together and cannot wait to get started :)




Are there any colors that you just cannot get enough of for fall?  Obviously, I have grey, yellow and teal (nice blue/green combo) but I think I may also be falling for plum...again!

Business Trip

So, I have a business trip coming up in exactly one month.   I will be spending almost a week in beautiful Panama for the conference. Finished Chalkboard

So I am delayed in getting this posted but the chalkboard was a huge success and the kids were thrilled!  They have played on it a lot and have even invited their friends over to color on the chalkboard with them. So after I applied the layers of chalkboard paint and let them dry, I took a piece of chalk and laid it on its side and "colored" the chalkboard with it.  You are doing this according to the directions to help prime the surface for use. After you color it and let it chill, you then take a damp rag and wipe it off.  Sounds easy enough, right?  Well, it is!  I was nervous about  it not working because I may have some how missed a step along the way...I even googled the directions just in case!! I also added a really cute and perfectly, imperfect burlap boarder to the chalkboard.  I had initially planned out creating a wood boarder for it and painting it to match the colors from the playroom pillows but ultimately decided against it...

New House!

So the husband and I are in the middle of purchasing our 3rd house!!  We are very excited and are now just waiting for Friday so that we can close and get the keys. With the waiting game in full swing my mind is drifting to how we are going to furnish and style the house.  With three young kids (ages 5, 3, and 1) I need and want things that are resilient, easily washable yet beautiful and timeless. We purchased new furniture and curtains this summer when we moved into our apartment.  We only brought our bed and a couple of dressers from our previous house (lucky tenants didn't have to furnish much when they moved in).  The furniture is similar in color to the curtains but is not carried by Ashley Furniture anymore, although they do have some great options.
