Instagram

The Instagram Giveaway was a huge success, thank you everyone for participating!!

The winner was announced Friday evening and posted - what a lucky lady :)

I will be hosting another giveaway via Instagram and Facebook during the month of July and will post details next week.

So yesterday, was my birthday and it was great :)  I am one of those people that still loves to celebrate my birthday even as an adult and look forward to it and my special day.

The kids want to get me a new car because mine is fat.... There are three of them and I drive an SUV.  If I had a smaller car, they wouldn't fit with all of their "necessary" items, haha. 

Anyway, it's been raining like more than usual for Houston and I'm dying to get out and go fro a run.  I love to run in the ran but I'm will not go out if there are flash flood warnings (except for Harvey....I ran in that), lightening or thunder.  To many horror stories about people either getting swept away or electrocuted and I'm in no hurry to be one of them. 

So, here's to hoping that it isn't raining when I leave the office so that I can stop by the track on my way home for a few laps and speed work while the kids run around.

Speaking of working out - I've been slacking sooooo bad.  I can feel a difference in my body, attitude and energy level and it's not okay.  I was told yesterday that I was an inspiration for others to be healthy but I'm not feeling it at all lately.  But with my next marathon paid for, training will begin asap!

Oh, and I'm *planning* to run an ultra-marathon in December - about 1.5 months before my marathon.  Just enough time to recover before jumping right back in.  So my training it two-fold.  Survive the ultra and finish under the 7 hour limit and beat my marathon time from last year.

Business Trip

So, I have a business trip coming up in exactly one month.   I will be spending almost a week in beautiful Panama for the conference. Finished Chalkboard

So I am delayed in getting this posted but the chalkboard was a huge success and the kids were thrilled!  They have played on it a lot and have even invited their friends over to color on the chalkboard with them. So after I applied the layers of chalkboard paint and let them dry, I took a piece of chalk and laid it on its side and "colored" the chalkboard with it.  You are doing this according to the directions to help prime the surface for use. After you color it and let it chill, you then take a damp rag and wipe it off.  Sounds easy enough, right?  Well, it is!  I was nervous about  it not working because I may have some how missed a step along the way...I even googled the directions just in case!! I also added a really cute and perfectly, imperfect burlap boarder to the chalkboard.  I had initially planned out creating a wood boarder for it and painting it to match the colors from the playroom pillows but ultimately decided against it...

New House!

So the husband and I are in the middle of purchasing our 3rd house!!  We are very excited and are now just waiting for Friday so that we can close and get the keys. With the waiting game in full swing my mind is drifting to how we are going to furnish and style the house.  With three young kids (ages 5, 3, and 1) I need and want things that are resilient, easily washable yet beautiful and timeless. We purchased new furniture and curtains this summer when we moved into our apartment.  We only brought our bed and a couple of dressers from our previous house (lucky tenants didn't have to furnish much when they moved in).  The furniture is similar in color to the curtains but is not carried by Ashley Furniture anymore, although they do have some great options. For the game room upstairs that the kids will use all the time, I'm looking at Ikea for a great couch that is also a pull out bed for when we have guests over.   Sleeper with storage St...
